and we’re off!
yeah, remember how i was going to get that pattern done last week? didn’t really happen that way. but, it’s almost ready to go now, i just need to look it over once more. this probably won’t happen for a week or so, because tomorrow at around 4am i am leaving my house to get on an airplane to fly to california, where the predicted temperature for when i land is over the temperature for which my roommate and i pay $200 a month to keep my house! however, be assured that the sweater is getting a nice amount of wear.
meanwhile, i have been able to finish two projects. the first is, obviously, my weymouth st. tunic. and guess what? it’s too big! i talk to people about ease all the time. like, i think i say something about figuring out the ease you want every day. however, when it comes to my own knitting, i guess i can’t remember little things like that. i could talk about ease for hours, but suffice it to say that i knit the size i’d knit if i were making a worsted-to-bulky weight wool sweater, and this fingering weight alpaca/nylon/superwash blend is VERY different.
it’s not so bad from the front, but when you see the back…
oh well, at least it will get some use at stitches!
as for my next project…
ok mom, don’t worry. i’m not pregnant. it’s for work. and although my boyfriend claims he was aware of the fact that this was a work project, too, the look he gave me when i told him my next project was…well…to put it lightly, terrified. i believe his exact words were “baby surprise? why is it a surprise?!”
anyway, i’m mostly packed and ready to go, i’ve checked in online, and now i’m off to target to buy socks. meanwhile, i’m having the usual knitter’s pre-flight panic about needles. should i knit socks on bamboo dpns? should i bring that madelinetosh pashmina i bought a few days ago? how about my shawl i need to finish (ok, start) for work, or the sweater design that’s due at the beginning of april? any of these things could be confiscated depending on how the person i get at check-in feels at FIVE IN THE MORNING. but i’m going to look on the bright side. as a super-awesome coworker of mine recommended i should say, i’m going to stitches, bitches!
Both sweaters look great! So jealous of your mad skillz. Have an awesome time at Stitches — your socks will be ready when you get back!
aaahhh i forgot your sock yarn at home! but, don’t worry…i found something nice to play with.
I think the tunic looks great a little looser. It’s very “on trend,” for what its worth.
Love your guy’s reaction to the BSJ. Just so you know, I’ve flown every month for the past two years and have never had a problem with needles, so I hope you have the same luck! Have fun at Stitches!
yeah, i’ve never had needles taken, but i get so worried, especially on long flights. i got most of the body of a sweater done on the flight out here, i don’t even want to think about what i would have done with that time if i didn’t have that to work on.
have fun at stitches, bitches.
i think your weymouth st. tunic looks great, even with the extra ease. but maybe i’m just stupid. 🙂
stupid is like the last word i would ever pick to describe you! thanks!
ps what if your mom reads this?!
