“ruffly”

July 19, 2010

a few months ago, kirsten (from webs and i had a conversation about the ruffle/embellishment trend in knitting, and i volunteered to put something together for the fall catalog. after a few setbacks, i ended up working on this nonstop to get it done in time! hence the lack of blogging. miles of mindless stockinette on a side-to-side sweater is not the most interesting material, let me tell you. it doesn’t even look like a sweater until you’re done with it!

ok, so it’s not SUPER ruffly. but, there is some drapey excess fabric involved.

it’s knit in two pieces from cuff to center back and then grafted, and the fronts are different lengths. post-blocking, it’s grown a bit, but the whole wet-blocking thing makes it hard to take pictures of it on a body! i’m thinking i’ll call it the “bryophyte cardigan” since i’ve been super into mosses lately…of course i don’t really care now that it’s done!

anyway, i have another (gorgeous) sweater, for myself, about 1/3 done and a spinning project going, so expect another blog post later in the week.
